Cryolipolysis

New in Basel! Cryolipolysis makes use of the fact that fat cells are more prone to cold than the surrounding tissue. By attaching a non-invasive applicator to the desired area, the underlying fatty tissue is cooled while protecting the skin, nerves, muscles and other tissues. Chilled fat cells induce apoptosis (controlled cell death) and are gradually depleted. This reduces the thickness of the fat layer by up to 30%.

Three months after the procedure, inflammatory cells gradually break down the affected fat cells. Lipids are slowly released from the fat cells and transported away from the lymphatic system for processing, which leads to a significant reduction in size of the treated area.
