Botulinum

Wrinkle treatment with botulinum

Botulinum has proven itself in the treatment of wrinkles caused by our facial expressions (mimic wrinkles). These include frown lines and laughter lines or "crow's feet" in the eye area. When treating wrinkles with botulinum, the drug is injected with a very fine needle into the muscles to be treated. This relaxes the relevant muscle and mimic wrinkles are reduced and the skin is smoothed.

In the right dose, the botulinum treatment leads to a relaxed and fresh facial expression with a significant reduction in wrinkles without appearing unnatural or mask-like. The effect slowly sets in after about 4 days, is fully developed after about 10-14 days and then lasts for 3-4 months. With repeated use, the effect can sometimes even be significantly prolonged.

Our specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, Dr. med. Simona Lüdi will be happy to advise you and carry out the treatments in the Beautylounge.

Treatment of increased sweating (hyperhidrosis)

The injection with botulinum is an treatment option for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) and is recommended by Dr. med. Simona Lüdi offered in the beauty lounge. The drug is injected into the appropriate area of skin with very fine needles.

Botulinum reduces the release of sweat by acting directly on the sweat glands and specifically blocking the nerve impulses for sweat secretion. The effect begins after about 4 days and is fully developed after 10-14 days at the latest. The duration of the effect varies from person to person, but the effect usually lasts for 4-6 months. Then the original sweating begins again.

In many patients, however, the duration of action is longer, especially after multiple injections.

Treatment of teeth grinding (bruxism)

Teeth grinding, also known under the technical term “bruxism”, mainly takes place during sleep and causes the upper and lower jaw to rub against each other. Left untreated, bruxism can have serious consequences for teeth and jaws over time.

A particularly effective method against nocturnal teeth grinding is treatment with botulinum and is recommended by Dr. med. Simona Lüdi offered in the beauty lounge. Botulinum relaxes the muscles. To treat teeth grinding, botulinum is injected into the masseter muscle at specific points on each side of the cheek, causing it to relax. The muscle then does not relax completely, but is only relaxed.

Eating and chewing are still possible normally, but teeth grinding and strong clenching of the teeth is prevented.
